Santa Barbara Nonprofits Shine with Fundraising Events in 2025
In 2025, Santa Barbara’s vibrant nonprofit sector once again demonstrated its power to unite the community through a series of engaging and impactful fundraising events. These gatherings, ofen lauded as some of the city’s best parties, provided crucial support for organizations dedicated to serving the local community.
A Year of Community Support
Throughout the year, a diverse range of nonprofits hosted events designed to both raise funds and increase awareness of thier vital work. From elegant galas to themed celebrations, these events showcased the dedication of both the organizations themselves and the generous individuals who support them. The collective impact of these efforts underscores the strong philanthropic spirit within Santa Barbara.
Spotlight on Key Events
Several events stood out for their unique themes and significant contributions. The S.B.County Animal Care Foundation’s “Tails of Hope” event, featured President and Co-founder Linda greco, Event Chair Lee Heller, Event Emcees John Corbett and Bo Derek, and S.B. County animal Services Director Sarah Aguilar.
The Lotusland Celebrates event,hosted by its event committee,drew attendees with its enchanting atmosphere. The More Mesa Preservation Coalition marked its 25th anniversary with a celebration attended by Boardmembers Cameron Benson and Kathy pfeifer alongside Artist Kevin Gleason.
The performing arts also played a key role,with a donor reception following a performance of “Every Brilliant Thing,” featuring playwright and star Jonny Donahoe,New Beginnings Counseling center executive Director Kristine schwarz,and Associate director Paddy Gervers. the S.B. Rescue Mission hosted a “down Under”-themed event, led by Co-Chair Pamela Dillman Haskell, President Rolf Geyling, and Board Chair Kiah Jordan.
Community spirit was also on display at the Hillside holiday open house, welcoming residents, staff, and guests. The Immigrant Legal Defense Center held its “Toast to Justice” fundraiser, bringing together staff including Case Manager Bianca Morales, Senior Attorney Susana Cruz, and Executive Director Julissa Peña.
Showers of Blessing expressed gratitude to its supporters at a Donor appreciation Party, attended by Boardmember Fr. Nicholas speier, Board president Ann Veazey, and Executive Director John Tamiazzo. The S.B. Zoo benefited from the dedication of the Zoofari Committee, including Marcy and Matt Bazzani, and Robyn and Jess Parker.
A unique collaboration between Old Spanish Days and the S.B. Zoo,DIGS,brought together prominent figures like Police Chief Kelly Gordon,Mayor Randy Rowse,and City Fire Chief chris Mailes. Channelkeeper hosted its annual Bluewater Ball, with staff including Progress Director Annie Lovell and Executive Director Ted Gorton in attendance. a pre-performance donor dinner celebrated the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre with Arts & Lectures Miller McCune Executive Director Celesta billeci.
