Habibur Rahman Sohan confirmed the Super League of Gazi Group Cricketers by beating City Club in a storming century. Gazi’s win against City Club sent Legends of Rupganj out of the league.
City lost the toss and were bowled out for 181 at Fatulla on Friday (April 19). Gazi secured victory by 8 wickets in just 24.1 overs. The club confirmed the Super League as the sixth team with 14 points from 7 wins at the end of 11 rounds. On the other hand, City has been relegated to the relegation league for the ninth time.
City could avoid relegation if they beat Gazi. Mashrafe Bin Murtaza’s Rupganj got Super League ticket. If Gazi lost, they would have had 12 points equal to Rupganj, Mashrafe had a chance as they were ahead head to head. The Super League is not being played this year due to Gazi’s victory.
Sohan gave Gazi a flying victory. This explosive batsman played a brilliant innings of 102 runs off just 81 balls. He arranged the innings with 10 fours and 6 sixes. 61 runs came from opener Anisul Islam’s bat.
After losing the first wicket for 22 runs, Sohan made a partnership of 131 runs with Anis. That’s the end of the match. Moinul Islam took two wickets for City.
Before going down to bat, City lost wickets from the start. Maximum 38 runs came from opener Hasan’s bat. Rafsan Al Mahmud scored 37 runs. 25 runs came from Rayhan Rafsan’s bat. No batsman could play a long innings despite settling down at the crease.
Ruel Miah took maximum 3 wickets for Gazi. Husna Habib, Abdul Ghaffar and Moeen Khan took 2 wickets each.
