Cyclocross Returns to Pratoni del Vivaro with Highly Anticipated Cycling Cafè Trophy
The Cycling Cafè Trophy promises to be a highlight of the winter sporting calendar in Lazio, bringing thrilling cyclocross action back to the Pratoni del Vivaro. The event,spanning two days,is designed to blend competitive racing with a festive atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.
The event is being organized by Promo Cycling ASD,in close collaboration with the Cycling Cafè Racing Team. According to organizers, the Federal Equestrian Center of Pratoni del Vivaro (located in Rocca di Papa, near Rome) provides “an ideal location to enhance the technical and spectacular characteristics of cyclocross.”
Saturday will feature the Roma Master cross, a well-established event that serves as a key competition for regional amateur cyclists. This opening day will allow athletes to test their skills on a challenging and technically demanding course.
Sunday’s competition will center around an FCI race, representing the final and decisive stage of the Lazio Cross circuit. The stakes are high, with not only the prestige of the Cycling Cafè trophy on the line, but also the overall circuit rankings for all participating categories. This promises a especially intense competition across the board.
The Cycling Cafè Trophy is intentionally inclusive, welcoming athletes from a wide range of categories – including Open, Juniores, Masters, Beginners, and Students. Notably,the event will also feature dedicated races for children on a specially designed short track,demonstrating a commitment to fostering youth participation in the sport. “Special attention to the youth sector confirms the organizers’ desire to promote the sport from the first rides, enhancing the fun, participation and sporting growth,” a senior official stated.
The weekend is positioned as a complete party of cyclocross, appealing to athletes, families, and cycling enthusiasts. Attendees can expect two days of dynamic competition in an environment characterized by enthusiasm and camaraderie.
The Sunday program is structured as follows:
- 9:30 AM – First start: Master Band 2, Master Band 3, Master Band 4, and master Women (starts staggered by 10 seconds).
- 10:15 AM – Second start: Juniores (Men/Women), Master Junior (Men/women), and Women Open.
- 11:00 AM – Third start: Open and Master Band 1 (starts staggered by 10 seconds).
- 12:10 PM – Fourth start: Beginners (Men/Women) and Students (Men/Women).
- 12:45 PM – Fifth start: Category G6 (Men/Women).
Following the main races, the afternoon will be dedicated to the Cycling Cafè Trophy – Short Track Baby Cup, designed to introduce the youngest riders to the excitement of cyclocross. young athletes in categories G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, and MPG will participate, with a meeting at 1:30 PM and races beginning at 2:30 PM.All young participants will be recognized with awards in a celebratory atmosphere.
