The Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia issued a statement regarding the problems faced by the business during the pandemic.

“It is not always possible to give an unequivocal assessment to the steps taken by the RA government during the pandemic. It is clear that there have been both steps and solutions appropriate to the situation and, unfortunately, failures. We, the businessmen, are certainly more visible to the complications arising in the economy, the problems and omissions of the executive. We think it’s worth noting that these mistakes are mostly fixable and we hope they won’t happen again in the future.

At the same time, we are witnessing that during this time some government officials and RA NA MPs show a clear retreat from the ideas of liberalism, and on opportune and inopportune occasions they voice the need to start nationalization and nationalization processes in various fields. This is not appropriate for independent Armenia, which has adopted a free market economy policy, and contributes to the formation of a negative attitude towards the government’s activities. We are confident that this new manifestation is also fixable.

In general, the RA Union of Industrialists and Businessmen highly appreciates the efforts made by the executive power of Armenia for our country in this difficult situation. We express our support to the government headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, at the same time expecting the speedy correction of the omissions and mistakes, the fastest possible solution to the problems and the harmonious and purposeful work of the executive power, without any retreat from the ideas of liberalism.”
