Massive Sinkhole Causes Damage and Injuries on E6 Road in Gothenburg

At 01.46 earlier today, the Swedish emergency services were alerted about a landslide or a sinkhole on the E6 road in Gothenburg. According to Daniel Svensmark, the alarm and line operator at the greater Gothenburg rescue service, the sinkhole is quite large, causing damage to the E6 road, the adjacent Ucklumsvägen road, and nearby buildings.

Multiple emergency units have rushed to the scene to assess and address the situation. Daniel Svensmark stated that the extent of the damage is still unclear due to the vast affected area, which spans over 100 meters in diameter. However, it has been reported that several vehicles, including a bus, have driven into the sinkhole.

The local police are also present at the site, assisting the emergency services. Fredrik Flyberg, the officer on duty at the police in the west, emphasized that there is still a risk of further collapse. The state of the damages and injuries is currently being assessed. So far, at least three people have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

As a result of the sinkhole, the E6 road has been completely closed in both directions. The Swedish Transport Agency has implemented a diversion plan, redirecting traffic via route 650. Drivers are advised to avoid the affected area and follow the official instructions.

Further updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available.
