The 7th ordinary so-called inclusive congress of the National Union of Teachers and Researchers of Guinea (Slecg), opened on November 15 at the People’s Palace, against a backdrop of division. The theme: “Social dialogue and union unity. »

The unification of the two Slecg factions desired by a steering committee led by Sâa Léno, has not yet succeeded in uniting the Slecg of Kadiatou Bah and that of Aboubacar Soumah. Sâa Léno, apparently disappointed, denounces “reluctance”, since Aboubacar Soumah, troublesome secretary of his Slecg and his lieutenants shunned the congress. Among the delegates, his long-time allies (Oumar Tounkara), new dissidents. Oumar Tounkara, former embarrassing secretary of Slecg and former close friend of Soumah ”the rebel”, retired: “God does not like pride and ingratitude (…) We must stop looking in the rearview mirror, to see the future. May the congress be held under the sign of renewal, forgiveness, tolerance. We must transcend what divides us and consolidate what unites us, because united we are strong, divided we are weak. »

Abdoulaye Camara, troublesome secretary of the Guinean Workers’ Union (another faction), spokesperson for the trade union movement, believes that the congress, supposed to reunify the two Slecgs, will now put an end to the squabbles and the “unfathomable” contradictions which have dangerously affected the functioning of Sleg. »

According to him, the renewal of the national bodies of Slecg will put a hunger for contradictions, for the good of the bleeding people and researchers of the country. “You have just got us out of a dilemma that has lasted too long. We believe that the unification will be total and definitive to the extent that, very soon, the USTG will also hold its congress to silence the resentments within it and arrive at one and only USTG. » It remains to be seen whether this Abdoulaye Camara congress will not encounter dissension against the other faction of the USTG led by Abdoulaye Sow.

For now, Aboubacar Camara urges chalk eaters and researchers to strengthen unity, solidarity and harmony, in order to get workers out of precariousness. Amen!

“Unification could not be prevented”

Pépé Michel Balamou, the troublesome secretary of the National Education Union: “Let’s say no to division, manipulation, instrumentalization, disinformation and intoxication. The Sleg had become a giant with feet of clay. The quarrels within it gave birth to the Autonomous Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Education Union, Slecg, among others. Notwithstanding all the quarrels, you have today picked up the pieces, giving new impetus to Slecg. Those who are slow to board the train will understand that the march is irreversible and that unification cannot be hindered by anyone.” To think that Aboubacar Soumah will have his troubles to say. It will break loose !

Pépé Michel Balamou announces that the SNE will also hold its congress so that the trade union movement can submit a platform of demands in January 2024 regarding the revision of the special status of Education.
