The ROK and US militaries will conduct Exercise Freedom Shield from March 4 to 14.
As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, the American military contingent in the Republic of Korea reported this.
The training will include actions on land, sea, air and cyberspace, as well as the use of “space assets” to respond to enemy nuclear forces. Representatives of 10 member countries of the UN Command also take part in the exercises. Freedom Shield involves “field and virtual exercises” using computer simulations.
In connection with the Freedom Shield, South Korea and the United States will conduct several large-scale training aimed at strengthening cooperation and combat readiness, the press release indicates. In Pyongyang, the US-South Korean exercises are usually called a rehearsal for war against the DPRK.
South Korea’s Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said Tuesday that Seoul and Washington will hold twice as many exercises as last year in the first half of this year.
