“Soyuz” with a movie crew docked to the ISS in manual mode due to automatic failure

by time news

The Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft with a film crew docked with the ISS. Previously, he switched to manual control due to docking difficulties. On the ship are actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, as well as cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov.

During the docking of the spacecraft to the ISS, two sets of equipment for the Kurs automatic rendezvous system failed. As a result, Anton Shkaplerov had to switch to manual control and dock the ship.

Dmitry Rogozin, general director of Roskosmos, said that the reason for the transfer of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft with a film crew on board when docked with the ISS was the unwillingness to take risks. He noted that there is “nothing special” about this.

The Soyuz spacecraft with director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild on board took off towards the ISS on October 5. The crew will be filming scenes from the feature film “Challenge” in orbit. A full-length feature film is being shot on the ISS for the first time. The captain flew into orbit without flight engineers – this was done to make room for the actress and director. In addition, astronauts usually get to the ISS in two days, but the film crew was delivered in about three hours using the ultra-short circuit, which is used for the third time in Russian history.
