A sacristan died and four other people were injured in southern Spain by a machete attack (at first there was talk of a katana, the typical Japanese sword). According to reports from the newspaper The worldthe attack allegedly took place in the churches of San Isidro of Algeciras and in the parish of Our Lady of La Palma around 8pm
, in the southern province of Cádiz. Among the wounded was also the parish priest, in serious condition, while there was nothing they could do for the sacristan, who died shortly after the attack outside the place of worship.

Identified the perpetrator, Yassine Kansar, a 25-year-old of Moroccan origins, who was stopped by the agents. The authorities and the Audencia Nacional (the Madrid court which has jurisdiction throughout the national territory) are investigating terrorism, even if the nature of the attack has not yet been determined. After the attacks in the churches of San Isidro and Our Lady of La Palma, the young Moroccan seemed to be heading, according to the words of the witnesses, to the church of the Virgin of Europe. He told it, quoted by El Pais, a priest from Algeciras. All three churches are located in the center of the town.

The Spanish premier Pedro Sánchez sent condolences to the relatives of the sacristan who died in the attack. In a tweet, the prime minister defined the attack as follows: A terrible episode. All our support for the work of the State Security Forces and Corps, concluded the Prime Minister. The governor of Andalusia echoes him Juanma Moreno: I strongly condemn crime. Intolerance will never have a place in our society.
