The Spanish Parliament passed a law on amnesty for Catalan separatists. As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, La Vanguardia reports this.
178 deputies were in favor of adopting the bill, 172 were against it.
It is noted that we are talking about an amnesty for crimes – both proven and alleged – committed by representatives of Catalan separatists during an attempt to hold a referendum on the independence of Catalonia from Spain in 2017.
The amnesty for Catalan separatists was promoted by the current Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. However, in many regions of Spain this measure is not popular. On March 9, thousands of people rallied in central Madrid to protest against the amnesty law for Catalan separatists and demand the resignation of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. At the end of January, about 45 thousand people took part in a similar protest in the center of Madrid.
