The Barcelona of the current season is light years away from the one of the previous season. Xavi’s team recorded a particularly embarrassing loss this evening (Saturday) when they conceded two deep goals in overtime and surrendered 5:3 to Villarreal in a simply crazy game held as part of the 22nd round of La Liga. The game, like all the Spanish league games, was broadcast on channel ONE for HOT subscribers, yes subscribers, Cellcom TV, Partner TV and FreeTv.

Xavi and his apprentices came to the competition after surrendering 4:2 to Athletic Bilbao in San Mames at the end of extra time in the last game and were already eliminated from the King’s Cup at the quarter-final stage. The champion players hoped to regain their self-respect and return to the winning track, but they suffered embarrassing goals and surrendered to the yellow submarine, which was superior. After the loss, the gap between the champion and Real Madrid at the top increased to 10 points with 16 rounds left to go.

In the previous meeting between the teams, Villarreal surrendered 4:3 to Barcelona at the end of a great game. The players of the yellow submarine turned a double deficit and went up 2:3, but conceded two goals later and surrendered at home. Marcelino’s players hoped to avenge that home loss and beat the champion at home, and they did it in exactly the same way, when they only added another goal at the end and on the way stopped a streak of four games without a win in all formats.
