NASCAR at COTA to Turn Back Time with ‘80s Throwback Weekend Featuring The Spazmatics
A retro experience awaits race fans as NASCAR heads to the Circuit of The Americas, complete with a free concert from nationally recognized 1980s new wave cover band, The Spazmatics.
The Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is preparing for a high-octane weekend that will transport fans back to the decade of big hair, neon, and iconic music. Before the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m. CT (TV: FOX, Radio: PRN), the frontstretch will be transformed into an immersive 1980s playground.
The Spazmatics to Headline Retro Concert
The Spazmatics will kick off the retro festivities with a concert at 12:45 p.m. CT on race day. The band, known for their energetic performances and “Revenge of the Nerds”-inspired look – complete with bowties, plaid pants, and taped glasses – will deliver a setlist packed with hits that defined the MTV era. Fans can expect to hear classics such as Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” A-ha’s “Take On Me,” Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America,” Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” and Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl.”
The concert is free for all race ticket holders. For those seeking an enhanced experience, a Track Pass upgrade is available for $75, while the Ultimate Fan Pass, priced at $799, offers a front-row concert view, pre-race driver introductions, and additional race-day benefits.
