• Statements to “d” of the general secretary of Public Order Manos Logothetis

A meeting regarding the settlement of the procedural issues related to the issuance of the 7-day visa for Turkish citizens was held yesterday at the Municipal Port Fund of South Dodecanese chaired by the general secretary of Public Order Manos Logothetis and the general secretary of Shipping and Ports Evangelos Kyriazopoulos.
Speaking exclusively to “d”, Mr. Logothetis expressed his satisfaction with the start of the program. He even stated that he is confident that with the participation and support of all the agencies involved, this initiative will be a complete success in Rhodes.
In more detail, he stated the following: “It is a happy moment for the resumption of the pilot program of issuing visas on the spot at the point of entry, in 14 ports of 10 islands of the Aegean. We hope for increased tourist traffic from Turkey and we are here with Mr. Kyriazopoulos in order to examine with the representatives of all the competent bodies, how we will facilitate our visitors, avoid long delays and provide the best possible service.
Rhodes is known for its touristic spirit and the high level of hospitality of its visitors. I am happy to sit at a table where all the representatives of the local authorities and agencies recognize the need to do our best in order to serve the Turkish nationals who will choose to visit the island directly and issue their visa here.” It is worth noting that the measure of the 7-day visa for Turkish citizens has been welcomed by the agencies and tourism entrepreneurs of Rhodes, noting that it is going to contribute to stimulating tourism and strengthening the market, facilitating the flow of visitors from the neighboring country to ” Emerald Isle”. The broad acceptance of the measure was demonstrated at yesterday’s meeting, which was held in a particularly cooperative and constructive atmosphere.

The meeting was attended by the deputy regional governor, Apostolis Asprakis, the deputy regional governor for Transport, Nikos Nikolis, the deputy mayor and deputy mayor of M. Polis, Vaios Kalopitas, the President of the Port Fund, Vassilis Vagiannakis, the president of the Rhodes Hotel Association, Yiannis Papavasiliou, representatives of THE GREEK POLICE. and the Port Authority, shipping agents and DLT officials.
It should be noted that in addition to Rhodes, the islands that will be visited with the express visa include Symi, Leros, Kastellorizo, Kalymnos, Samos, Lemnos, Lesvos, Chios and Oinousses.
The express visa will reportedly cost around 60 euros and will allow for multiple entries to the islands where the measure applies. That is, Turkish citizens will be able to use it – if they prefer – several individual times during the year.
Finally, it is recalled that the agreement on the provision of tourist visas to Turkish citizens was signed during the official visit of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Athens, on December 7, 2023, in the context of the meeting of the Supreme Cooperation Council of Greece – Turkey, between other agreements, Memorandums of Understanding and Joint Declarations.
The 7-day residence permit will be granted upon arrival of Turkish citizens. The two states have agreed that the program will be implemented for one year and then its validity will be reviewed.
