Tonight airs (9.15 pm suNove) Speed, action film directed in 1994 by Jan de Bont. The protagonist is Keanu Reeves in the role of the policeman Jack Traves who after a couple of days foils two attacks by the terrorist Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper): first defuses a bomb on an elevator inside a skyscraper in Los Angeles and then saves the passengers of a bus on which a bomb has been placed ready to explode if the speedometer drops below 50 miles per hour. On the bus, he meets college student Annie Porter, played by Sandra Bullock, who helps him complete the feat. But the dangers are not over: the finale is spectacular, with the couple on a subway traveling at great speed without control. Also in this case the two manage to save each other and also find time to fall in love. The film is full of suspense and twists, the pace is always pressing, however the attempt to repeatedly raise the tension makes many plot events unlikely. “Speed” smashed the box office: it cost 30 million dollars, earned over 350 million and won two minor Oscars (sound and sound editing).
