Russian speed skater Angelina Golikova finished fourth in the 1000m race at the Beijing Olympics. She was 0.1 seconds short of the bronze medal.

Japanese Miho Takagi won the race, covering the distance in 1 minute 13.190 seconds – this is a new Olympic record. She improved on the achievement Jorin ter Mors set in 2018 (1:13.56). The Japanese became a two-time Olympic champion.

The second was the Dutch Jutta Lehrdam (lag – 0.64 seconds), the third – the American Brittany Bowe (+1.42).

Golikova lost 1.52 seconds to the winner. Russian Daria Kachanova took 9th place, and Olga Fakulina – 13th.
