Iraqi speedball clubs continue their intensive preparations for the next season, as they prepare to participate in local and international tournaments.
The spokesman for the Speedball Federation, Ali Hamza Al-Rubaie, told the (INA): “Clubs and institutional teams are preparing to compete in the first round of the Iraqi Speedball Club Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Nineveh Governorate in mid-February 2025.”
Al-Rubaie added, “Three clubs are continuing their training to participate in the World Club Speedball Championship, which will be held in the Polish city of Krakow at the beginning of the same month, as they seek to achieve international achievements that reflect the growth of the sport in Iraq.”
Al-Rubaie stressed that “the players of the national team, who were recently crowned with the bronze medal in the individual competitions for the junior category in the World Championship held in Egypt, will be among the most prominent participants in the World Club Championship, which enhances the chances of achieving positive results.”
He continued, “These preparations come within the framework of the efforts made to support the sport of speedball locally and internationally, and to raise the level of iraqi sports competition on the global stage.”
