Amazon’s Spider-Noir series is now slated to premiere this spring on MGM+ and Prime Video, and a new cast member has been revealed: Jack Huston will appear as Flint Marko, also known as Sandman.
Details about the live-action Spider-Verse spinoff come from conversations with showrunner Oren Uziel, producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and star Nicolas Cage. The series explores how it blends black-and-white and color to tell a fresh Spider-Man story.
Nicolas Cage will portray Ben Reilly/The Spider as he investigates assassination attempts against Silvermane, played by Brendan Gleeson. The series will also feature Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy/Black Cat.
“In all the great detective stories, you have two cases that sort of come together and you realize you’re actually working the same thing,” Uziel explained. “He’s a guy getting dragged into a much larger fight that he doesn’t really want to be a part of. Silvermane is the big bad, but what’s happening to Silvermane connects back to Ben’s past and gets him spiraling deeper and deeper into his own origins.”
Cage previously embodied Spider-Man Noir in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He intends to bring a similar energy to the role, describing his character as “70 percent Humphrey Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny.”
Lord shared that Cage described his take on the character as “‘a spider trying to cosplay as a human.’”
“That’s why you cast Nicolas Cage,” Miller added. “He’s going to come at a character in a way that no one else would think of.”
The series will also star Lamorne Morris as freelance journalist Robbie Robertson and Karen Rodriguez as Ben Reilly’s secretary, Janet. New footage from CCXP25 offered a preview of the upcoming show.
