The municipal “Sports Holidays” program this year offers 6,000 places in courses, camps and activities and another 2,000 in the “Lend us to do sports” program, more specifically for competition, which will take place in July and August. All the activities were presented yesterday by the Councilor for Sports, José Ramón Tuero.
“The main novelties of this edition are that the multi-adventure camp and activities such as archery or family strokes are recovered,” said Tuero, who recalled that the objective of the program is “to promote physical activity through proposals that are mainly developed outdoor”. “Sports Holidays” also contributes to developing values such as respect, tolerance and equality while being inclusive, since people with some type of disability participate on equal terms. As in previous editions there are social bonuses of up to 95 percent of the cost for those families that meet the requirements.
Registrations open on three different dates. For the campuses on Monday, May 22, for the swimming programs on the 25th and for the courses and activities on June 6. This year there are six campuses: two for multisports, one for boys and girls from 5 to 7 years old and the other from 8 to 14 years old; multidisciplinary campus in English for boys and girls from 9 to 14 years old, a golf campus from 8 to 14 years old, a sports campus for everyone from 7 to 21 years old and finally a multi-adventure camp that will take place from July 16 to 23. To these must be added private campuses that organize different clubs of various disciplines. The offer of courses and activities adds up to 4,500 of the 6,000 total places and covers some thirty different modalities and another 15 that are totally free.
For its part, “Lend us to do sports” integrates 11 events and tournaments in very diverse activities such as crossings, the Vuelta al Concejo in BTT, a 3×3 basketball tournament or the San Lorenzo Beach night race as the most outstanding.
