# Spotify Doubles Down on Social with New Messaging and Collaborative Listening Features

Users can directly interact with their friends’ listening activity by tapping on a track to play it, save it to their library, access additional options, or react with an emoji. Enhanced Collaborative Listening with Jams
Spotify is also refining its Jam feature,which allows users to collaboratively build and listen to a shared music queue. Premium users can now initiate a Jam session by tapping a “Jam” option in the top-right corner of the app and sending a request to their friends.
If a friend accepts the invitation,they become the Jam host alongside the initiator,granting both users the ability to add tracks to the shared queue and enjoy music together. This feature builds on Spotify’s existing collaborative playlist functionality, offering a more real-time and interactive listening experience.
Rollout and Accessibility
The Listening Activity and Request to Jam features are currently rolling out to the iOS and android apps in markets where Messages is already available. Spotify anticipates broad availability in these markets by early February. While Listening Activity is accessible to all users with access to Messages, the Request to Jam feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers when invited by another Premium user.
Notably, Spotify has restricted access to these features to users aged 16 and older, given their integration within the Messages platform.
