The customs service officers recently put under control the cargo vehicle of two companies that arrived at the customs point of Bagratashen. According to the accompanying documents, several products, including coffee, mineral water, etc., were to be transported from the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation.

As a result of the customs control, it was found that the companies registered in the Republic of Armenia indicated the weight of coffee in the cargo accompanying documents more than what was actually present in the truck, and the weight of other, cheaper products, showed less than the actual weight in the truck.

Essentially, keeping the total weight of the goods in the truck, the companies tried to formulate the product, which is actually not transported, but has a higher value – coffee, as a product exported from Armenia.

As a result, through the described scheme, an attempt was made to export a total of about 17 tons of coffee that was not in the actual truck, which was identified and prevented as a result of the measures implemented by the customs authorities.

According to the preliminary assessment of the State Revenue Committee, the purpose of the said illegal scheme was to sell the company’s merchandise balances in the territory of the Republic of Armenia in a shadowy manner, disguising them with documentation of export to the EAEU countries, while simultaneously receiving back the purchase VAT amounts and therefore also hiding the VAT arising from the sale of coffee in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Currently, the Committee is carrying out multifaceted measures to find out the full range of cases.

The SRC urges to refrain from the use of various schemes, because the strictest tools of tax and customs administration will be applied to all business entities that demonstrate such illegal behavior.
