Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Canada announces last rites for murder victims in Ottawa

The last rites of the Sri Lankans who were murdered in Ottawa, Canada will be held in that country.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Canada, Harsha Navaratne, has said that the relatives of those killed will go to Canada for the funeral.

A commemorative event

Last Wednesday night, 06 Sri Lankans, including 5 members of the same family, were brutally murdered in Parhavan, a suburb of Ottawa, Canada.

Meanwhile, a memorial event for the murdered Sri Lankan family was held yesterday afternoon in a park near Dhanushka’s house.

About 300 people including local residents, Maha Shankaratna and government officials of both countries participated.

Intensive treatment

In addition, it is reported that Danushka Wickramasinghe, who survived the attack by the 19-year-old student and suffered serious injuries, has now undergone two surgeries.

The Hilda Jayawardanarama Vihara in Otta has announced that his condition is improving and that they will take care of him after he completes his treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Ottawa police have said that the post-mortem examinations of the deceased have been completed.

According to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Canada, arrangements are being made to bring Dhanushka’s brother and relatives to Ottawa.
