A man was recorded last Wednesday stabbing a woman while reciting Bible versesin the San Francisco Bay Area, and posted the video of the murder on Facebook. After a long search, it was arrested in california.

It all started after a person called the Nye County Police Department in Nevada to report that they had seen video of a homicide on social media.

Police identified the suspect as Mark Mechikoff, 39 years old. After tracing the phone number associated with the Facebook account, it was managed to locate it in a large apartment complex in San Mateo, California.

Then, the agents went to that place and began to knock on doors. After almost three hours of searching, They found the murdered woman inside an apartmentcall Claribel Estrella, 41 years old.

However, Mechikoff had already escaped and was not there. Finally, was arrested two hours later in the city of Saint JosephCalifornia, about 30 miles south of the site where the victim was found, and was charged with one count of aggravated manslaughter for inflicting serious bodily injury and by the use of a knife.

“Although the motive for the stabbing of the victim remains under investigation, we know that Mechikoff mercilessly recorded the last moments of the victim’s life and posted the video on Facebookand then fled the scene,” San Mateo police said in a statement.

Ryan Lenahan, a childhood friend of Mechikoff’s, recounted seeing the video on Facebook: “there was a person bleedinghe was standing next to the person, repeating bible verses and other kinds of incoherent nonsense”.

For his part, officer Jeremi Surratt regretted what happened: “It is tragic, horrible. It’s hard enough when we lose someone in our community. Someone posting a video on Facebook is scary and horrible“.

Zeena Amer, a tenant who lives right across from the apartment where the victim was found, said that he had heard “a scream the night before”.

In addition, the authorities reported that Mechikoff knew the victimalthough he did not specify what the link was.

Mechikoff has criminal recordincluding a 2019 Florida arrest for allegedly beating and threatening a woman with a knife.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, deleted Mechikoff’s account along with the murder video.
