Woman’s pursuit of coveted Stanley Cup ends with embarrassment at Target

Meagan Henagan Howard’s quest for the elusive Stanley Cup ended in humiliation and a viral TikTok video after a trip to Target. The TikTok creator revealed in a video that she fell while racing to get her hands on one of the coveted cups, with employees laughing over her misfortune.

The video, which has been viewed over 1.2 million times since Jan 1, shows Howard comparing the crowd of people trying to get their hands on the cups to a “stampede.” She detailed how she fell and later went back to the store to view security footage of the incident, only to be met with more laughter from the employees.

To make matters worse, Howard claimed that another shopper mocked her at the register by holding up two Stanley cups and offering them for sale. She concluded in the video, “And now I’m known as the girl who fell.”

The Daily Dot’s coverage of the Stanley cup phenomenon has also revealed other incidents, including an employee trying to stash one before they ran out, a man getting tackled in his attempt to secure one, and people fighting in line.

According to NPR, the Stanley brand is a status symbol and boasts about the superior quality of its popular tumblers, which are double-wall stainless steel and able to keep liquids hot or cold for extended periods of time.

In a follow-up video, Howard shared that she was lucky enough to get the Starbucks x Stanley pink cup. She revealed that she arrived at the store early and barely made it, as the last two tickets were given right behind her.

The Daily Dot has reached out to Meagan and to Target for comment on the incident.
