(ANSA) – LONDON, JULY 5 – The new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in his first phone call with US President Joe Biden, said that Britain’s support for Ukraine’s war with Russia is “unwavering”. “The leaders reaffirmed their firm commitment to Ukraine and the Prime Minister stressed that the UK’s support for Ukraine is unwavering”, a statement from Starmer’s Downing Street office said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his first phone call with Starmer “congratulated him on his election victory” and “wished him to successfully realise the expectations that the British people associate with the new government”. The Ukrainian leader wrote this on X, adding that he was “grateful” to Starmer for having “assured him that Britain’s support for Ukraine will remain unchanged. We coordinated positions ahead of the NATO summit in Washington and other international events and discussed the continuation of bilateral cooperation”. (ANSA).
