From May 2023 travelers in Europe will have to obtain an entry permit and pay a fee of tens of shekels before they can travel in most countries of the continent – the full list

From May 2023, travelers in Europe will have to obtain an entry permit and pay a fee of tens of shekels before they can travel in most countries on the continent – as published by Noa Roichman, N12 reporter. This is not a visa, but an electronic form, and the obligation to fill it out will apply to 63 countries that do not require an entry visa to Europe, including Israel.

Tourist entry policies will vary in 30 European countries and will be based on a system ETIAS, Designed to track travelers entering European countries from countries where no visa is required. The aim is to prevent the entry of travelers who pose a security threat, even if they come from friendly countries.

The new procedure is similar to that used in the US for travelers who do not require a visa. The proposal to apply a similar policy in Europe came up as early as 2016 and the system is expected to become fully operational in May 2023. Israelis holding a European passport will not be required to fill outETIAS.

The electronic system should be simple to use and filling out the login form is expected to take only about 10 minutes. To fill out the form, the traveler will only need a valid passport and the cost of the process will be about 7 euros per traveler. Travelers will have to fill out basic details about them, children will not have to fill out a form of their own.

After filling out the form, the system will check within minutes that the traveler is not a risk factor, and will immediately issue an entry permit. If the system detects a risk factor, the form will undergo a manual examination that is expected to last about 4 days to two weeks. In such a case, there is a possibility that the application to enter European countries will be rejected. The entry permit that will be issued will remain valid for 3 years.

The full list of countries whose entry policies will change: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
