New Delhi: The steel ministry is likely to soon finalize its regional plan for efficient logistics (SPEL), the commerce ministry said on Friday. The ministry said this during the 60th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) on November 16.
He also outlined its SPEL approach, which includes in-depth supply and demand analysis for iron ore, projected requirements to 2030-31 and beyond, strategic planning to prepare for the future in logistics.
In the meeting, the Coal Ministry also presented its major findings on the Integrated Coal Evacuation Plan prepared under the aegis of Coal Logistics Policy 2023.
“The ministry envisages a 14 per cent reduction in rail logistics costs through railway network optimization for coal logistics. Additionally, reduction in railway lead and replacement of road transport by rail is likely to reduce CO2 emissions by 100,000 tonnes per year by FY 2030,” it said.
