Athens,Ohio – Fans of Stephen King’s chilling tales will have a chance to experience ten of his stories on the big screen,as The Athena Cinema,located at 20 S. Court St., launches a new film series titled “Enter the Kingdom.”

A Spine-Tingling Series for King Devotees

The Athena Cinema’s “enter the Kingdom” series offers a curated selection of film adaptations from the master of horror.

  • The series begins January 20 and runs through March 31.
  • Films will be shown every Tuesday.

  • The series showcases adaptations directed by iconic filmmakers like Brian De Palma and Stanley Kubrick.

The Athena Cinema will screen one film each Tuesday, begining January 20 and concluding March 31. Already shown where Brian De palma’s 1976 adaptation of “Carrie,” starring Sissy Spacek, and Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 psychological horror masterpiece, “The Shining,” featuring Jack Nicholson, Shelley duvall, Scatman Crothers, and Danny Lloyd.

February’s Frights

February will bring a diverse selection of King adaptations to the screen. george A. Romero’s 1982 anthology film, “Creepshow,” will be shown on February 6, followed by David Cronenberg’s 1983 adaptation of “The Dead Zone” on February 13. February 20 will feature Rob Reiner’s 1989 film, “Stand by Me,” and February 27 will showcase mick Garris’s 1990 miniseries adaptation of “It.”
