Between Christmas baking and New Year’s Eve feasting – the next few days will be a busy time in the kitchen.
Food processors with a cooking function can make kneading dough, cooking and chopping vegetables much easier. Stiftung Warentest tested seven devices between 265 and 1500 euros and simulated their use over several years. BILD presents the most important results of kitchen machines in the test:
Five devices passed the long-term test without any major complaints, only the “Klarstein GrandPrix” failed beforehand. The “Kenwood Cooking Chef XL KCL95.424SI” food processor only received a “satisfactory” overall result; the durability test was particularly negative. When first used, the plastic ring on the steamer insert shrank, causing the insert to slip into the bowl. Nevertheless, acceptable steam results were possible.

The kitchen torero “Cookit” from Bosch (around 1,400 euros) mastered all tasks without any major errors and secured test victory with a grade of 2.0. The machine grates, slices, weighs, mixes and cooks well or satisfactorily. It is the only one that achieves a “satisfactory” result when chopping onions. The equipment is extensive, the searing temperature is sufficient for roasted aromas. However, the model is heavy and takes up a lot of space, and the recipes cannot be set for a different number of people.
Thermomix only in second place
The Vorwerk “Thermomix TM6” (grade 2.5) comes in second place and costs the same as the Bosch machine. However, you will have to pay around another 100 euros for chopping vegetables. It offers the easiest installation and is the easiest to fill and empty, but it is not convincing when it comes to rubbing and the temperature control is too imprecise.
The price-performance tip from Stiftung Warentest is the “Moulinex ClickChef HF4568” (grade 2.9) for around 300 euros. However, it offers the least comfort and few accessories, cannot grate or cut, but scores with the best scales in the test and has a long shelf life.
