Stock in Hesse is decreasing

by time news

IIn Hessen, the wine supplies are decreasing. At the turn of the year, trade and producers had 1.4 million hectoliters in their inventory, as the State Statistical Office has now reported, which is a tenth less than before the Corona crisis.

Above all, the supply of red wine has therefore decreased by around 100,000 hectoliters. In the trade, which has a total of more than 1.1 million hectoliters of wine in stock, there are currently significantly fewer bottles from manufacturers in European countries in stock, while the supply from Germany has even increased.

Less wine exported to Hessen?

Around 80 percent of the wine stocks come from other EU countries, other producer countries such as South Africa or the United States, according to the statistics, do not play a major role in terms of quantity. The statistics do not reveal whether the Hessians simply drink significantly more French, Italian and Spanish wine during the crisis or whether these countries export less than before.

At the Hessian winegrowers, the stock has increased slightly to 262,000 hectoliters compared to the first crisis year 2020, but it is smaller than in pre-crisis years. The current stocks in the trade and at the manufacturers would be sufficient to supply every Hessen with 30 bottles of wine.
