A 2,500-year-old stone map of the starry sky with a supernova was found in Italy.

During excavations in Italy, near the border with Croatia, archaeologists found stones with traces of processing, on which a map of the starry sky was drawn 2.5 thousand years ago.

The stone map depicted famous constellations, as well as a star believed to have gone supernova or “failed supernova”, that is, a star that turned into a black hole.

The map is executed so carefully that the distance between the stars deviates from the exact values by no more than the size of the dot indicating the star.
