Stop C-32 and SOS Lloret call for the withdrawal of the pacification project on the C-63

The organizations Stop C-32 and SOS Lloret de Mar have asked the Department of Territory to withdraw the project of the C-63 that they plan to build three roundabouts to access the housing estates between the municipality and Vidreres. They consider that the Government should be committed to making incorporation lanes and central turning lanes, which would solve the number of accidents but would not cause problems in mobility. The two entities believe that the roundabouts will have a negative impact on a road “that should be of high capacity”. This is what they state in a press release in which they are betting that it will be one of the main access corridors to the municipality and that it will connect with theAP-7, l’A-2 i la C-35.

The Generalitat announced that it planned to build three access roundabouts to the urbanizations ofAiguaviva Park, Lloret Residencial and the Pinars which is on the C-63 in the section between Vidreres and Lloret de Mar. With this project, the Government wants to reduce the number of accidents on this road, in many cases caused by the high speed at which cars collide with neighbors entering the housing estates.

Now, the platforms Stop C-32 and SOS Lloret they have asked the Government to withdraw the project. They consider that this formula would bring mobility problems to the municipality and are betting on an alternative project that goes through a system of incorporation lanes and central turning lanes (which are already there in some cases). This alternative would allow the 2+1 lane model to be extended to the C-63, a fact that the Government announced it was studying.

For the platforms, the C-63 must be the main access corridor to Lloret de Mar and for this reason they consider that the Territory must turn it into “a high-occupancy road, if necessary” to connect Lloret de Mar with other roads such as the AP-7, the C-35 and the A-2.

If the construction of the roundabouts continues, the two entities believe that it will have serious consequences mobility problems in the summer months and weekends, worsening the existing ones. They remember that roundabouts give the same priority to entry from housing estates as to the flow of vehicles crossing the road and this can cause delays. On the other hand, they argue that the merging lanes do not affect those traveling on the road, as they do not have to reduce speed and give security to neighbors who join them.
