The president of Conaie, Leonidas Iza, responded to the words of the Vice Minister of Government, Esteban Torres, who described the organization’s actions and claims as “not coherent.”
The president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), Leonidas Iza rejected, this Friday, June 28, the accusations made by the deputy minister of government, Esteban Torres against the organization.
Iza was blunt when demanding that the official stop observing the progress of his presidential candidacy and get to work to fulfill your duties.
The indigenous leader pointed out “I know it scares you, but stop paying attention to my candidacy and dedicate yourself to solving problems of the country.”
He added that President Daniel Noboa has the proposal on targeting subsidies which was worked on at the tables in accordance with the government of former president Guillermo Lasso in 2022.
Iza reiterated that the ““The elimination of subsidies is a new blow that the Noboa Government deals to the poorest.”
Conaie is not coherent, says Esteban Torres
For his part, Esteban Torres, Vice Minister of Government, had criticized through his social networks the actions of the leadership and Conaie, with respect to what they indicated in the 2022 agreement tables.
“It is enough to review the minutes and documents to realize that this government has made a decision that exceeds the past aspirations of many sectors,” said Torres.
He pointed out that the actions and decisions of Conaie are “an electoral stance in the face of the new elections and probably a measurement of internal forces with Pachakutik, with whom relations are not at their best.” (ILS)
