It has been confirmed that there will be national mourning in Chile and a state funeral for former president Sebastián Piñera, who died a few hours ago in a plane crash.
Chile’s own Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Carolina Tohá Morales, reflected that Piñera will have all the honors and recognitions.
«We want to express our shock, send our solidarity hug to the family of the former president, but also to all Chileans, because Sebastián Piñera Echenique was president of Chile, democratic president of Chile, and will have all the republican honors he deserves. The president governed us and we will remember him in the way he dedicated his life, President Boric has said that the state funeral be held, that national mourning be declared and we have sent our solidarity and our support to his family,” Morales added. .
