Tiruppuvanam: In Tiruppuvanam, the public complains that the narrow sewage drains are frequently blocked and the streets are stagnant due to unsanitary conditions.

More than 25 thousand people live in 18 wards in Thirupuvana. All the canals built to carry sewage from the houses were built 20 years ago during a period of low population and since then the canals have not been expanded as the population has increased. Due to this, there are frequent blockages and waste water stagnates in the streets for long periods of time and unsanitary conditions exist.

Also, the ground water is being polluted as the waste water is discharged into the nearby fields, irrigation canals, ponds etc. without any arrangements being made to treat it.

The public has insisted that sewage canals should be widened or the Badan Sewerage Project should be implemented considering the future demand.
