Norwich residents and visitors may spot familiar faces as filming for the seventh installment of the popular crime drama Strike is underway in the city center.
A crew of up to 70 people are currently shooting scenes starring Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott and Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike, based on the novels by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. The production also filmed in Cromer last week, focusing on the latest book, The running Grave, which centers around a religious cult.

Director Alex Rendall expressed his fondness for the area, stating, “I’ve enjoyed spending some time in Norwich. I love it – I’m a big fan of Norfolk.” He also reminisced about childhood vacations in the area, mentioning crabbing on the pier in Cromer.
Rendall clarified that while the cult’s primary location is in Norfolk, filming will primarily take place in and around London, with only eight days dedicated to exterior shots in the region. He noted that Strike is not involved in the scenes being filmed in Norwich, as the focus is on Robin’s undercover work.
The Strike series frist debuted in 2017 with a three-part adaptation of The Cuckoo’s Calling, based on the first novel published in 2013. The latest serial is expected to air by the end of the year. Filming is currently taking place in locations including Norwich Market and the Royal Arcade, with the crew working from early in the morning until nightfall.
