A large explosion resounded on the morning of Sunday October 1 in Ankara, near the Turkish Parliament, which is due to open its new working session during the day. The Interior Ministry quickly claimed that it was a “terrorist attack”. According to Turkish media, exchanges of fire were also heard in the Parliament district, which houses many ministries. Numerous police vehicles and ambulances were deployed in the area.
“Two terrorists appeared aboard a light military vehicle around 9:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. GMT) in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of the Interior and carried out an attack on the bomb,” said the Interior Ministry, reporting two injured police officers.
