Students and parents from Bulgarian communities in Hungary are researching the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius in the Zalavar region under the National Program “Untold Stories of the Bulgarians”. MES The project includes students from 1st to 5th grade from the Bulgarian native language school in Budapest and the primary school in Sharmelek.
Teams from both schools are studying the contribution of educators, holding thematic classes and will organize a competition and exhibition of children’s works (drawings and photographs), as well as a printed publication with the results of the studies.
The Bulgarian native language school in Budapest is supported annually by both the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Hungarian state. It teaches a total of 126 children and students, distributed from preparatory group to 12th grade. The Bulgarian community in Hungary has its cultural home, church and preserves its traditions, Ambassador Borosh said. They and Minister Tsokov were unanimous that the support for it from the two countries will continue.
Prof. Tsokov and Ambassador Borosh also discussed cooperation in the field of higher education and science. The countries host students, doctoral students, researchers and teachers annually on a reciprocal basis. The support of the activities of the Bulgarian and Hungarian language lecturers, accepted in both countries on a reciprocal basis, will continue. At the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” operates a Hungarian language lectureship, and at the meeting it became clear that there is to be one at Veliko Tarnovo University as well.
Bulgarian and Hungarian scientific organizations are partnering within the international consortia of 79 projects under the Framework Program for Scientific Research and Innovation of the European Union “Horizon 2020”.
