Azerbaijan’s young professionals and students now have increased access to European higher education opportunities, thanks to a comprehensive education fair launched this week in Baku. The “Study in Europe” event, which began Saturday, October 25th, and continues through Sunday, October 26th, aims to connect prospective students with institutions from across the European Union.
Strengthening EU-Azerbaijan Collaboration
The fair, held at the Hilton Hotel Baku, features over 30 universities representing 10 European countries. It’s a key component of a broader EU Delegation campaign and a testament to the growing EU-Azerbaijan partnership. According to organizers, the EU has already invested in Azerbaijan’s education sector through 29 ongoing projects.
“We invite you to immerse yourselves in the world of higher education in the European Union,” stated a senior EU official at the opening ceremony. The event’s slogan, “‘Education Shapes Destiny – Taleyini Təhsil Yazsın’,” underscores the transformative power of education.
Growing Numbers of Azerbaijani Students in Europe
The initiative builds on existing momentum. A deputy minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan highlighted that nearly 200 Azerbaijani students are currently pursuing studies at European universities under the “2022–2028 State Program.” This represents a significant increase in academic exchange and collaboration.
The deputy minister also emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation, citing intergovernmental scholarship programs with Latvia, Hungary, and Romania. Existing partnerships between Azerbaijani and European higher education institutions were also discussed, including opportunities for joint degree programs, collaborative research projects, and faculty and student exchanges.
Free Information Sessions and Resources
The “Study in Europe” Education Fair offers attendees free information sessions presented by European universities, outlining available educational programs. Presentations by the Young European Ambassadors will also detail EU-supported education opportunities. The event is open from 10:00 to 18:00 each day in the Sevda Room at the Hilton Hotel.
