Kochi ∙ After stabbing and injuring his friend in Kalur, the youth committed suicide in the middle of the road, police said that the reason was a dispute over friendship. Christopher Cruz (24), a mechanical engineering graduate, son of Cyril Cruz and Marie Cruz, Thoppumpadi Pallichal Road, died after stabbing his close friend Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin, a native of Aluva, is undergoing treatment at a hospital where his friend was injured in the neck.
The incident happened near Kalur market on Monday evening. Sachin had withdrawn from his friendship with Christopher for some time. This infuriated Christopher. Meanwhile, Sachin reached Kochi based on Christopher’s request to meet him in person. According to the police, the attack happened when Sachin rejected Christopher’s request to continue their friendship. Sachin got injured in the neck and ran away. After this, Christopher committed suicide by cutting his own throat. The police recorded Sachin’s statement in the incident.
Meanwhile, father Cyril Cruz told Manorama News that he does not know the reason why his son committed suicide. After the post-mortem, Christopher’s body was handed over to his relatives. The police informed that it can be confirmed only after the result of the chemical test whether intoxicants were used.
