Kudumbavilakku is a series that keeps the Malayalee audience close to their hearts. Despite many criticisms from many quarters, Family Lantern is leapfrogging in response to the rating. The series shows the captivating and professional life of a woman named Sumitra. Despite being abandoned by her husband, Sumitra was growing up without faltering in her life journey. Although the stories of strong women are often serialized, Sumitra is a different character.
Siddharth, Sumitra’s husband, leaves Sumitra and marries a selfish woman named Vedika. Siddharth is having such a marriage thinking that he cares more about the stage than Sumitra. But when it comes to stage life, Siddharth often feels that Sumitra was right. Besides, Siddharth often talks to Vedika about Sumitra’s good mood. That is why the stage feels a resentment towards Sumitra. It is this hatred that is now driving the series forward. The basis of Sumitra’s house is stolen by Siddharth’s mother and the stage creates some commotion. But because of that, Vedika is in jail and Sumitra gets into some other trouble.
The stolen evidence is being pawned on the stage by Mahendran, a local big moneylender. But the venue is mortgaging it without wanting to take it back. So Mahendran arrives at Sumitra’s house and causes trouble. Savitri’s husband Sivadasan, who knew that Siddharth’s mother Savitri was with Vedika for everything, replaced Savitri’s evidence and took Sumitra’s evidence back. But at this point, a doctor named Indraja, who had a previous feud with Sumitra, helps Vedika to get out on bail. With that, Sumitra’s enemies turn against Sumitra together.
Sumitra realizes that Mahendran has done to many others what he has done to them and sets out to wage war against Mahendran. For this, Sumitra comes across a father and daughter who were cheated by Mahendran earlier. That is likely to put a stop to the series in the coming days.

The idea of expanding Sumitra’s business to the Gulf through a Mumbai-based company was mooted by Rohit, Sumitra’s friend and who wants to marry Sumitra. Rohit’s intelligence is due to the fact that he does not get to talk to Sumitra alone among many family members in the country. But most who are jealous of Sumitra’s growth are trying to shut down the business. Meanwhile, the audience’s assessment is that getting in trouble with Sumitra Mahendran will change the plot of the series.
