A strange game is going on at the box office. On one hand, no new film was released last Friday, while on the other hand, the films already present in the theaters are running slowly. The condition of the cinema halls, which are facing the brunt of lack of audience, is such that neither are they able to remove the super flopped films, nor are a large number of spectators coming to watch them. Meanwhile, another amazing game has happened. Released on the occasion of Eid, ‘Maidan’, which till now was lagging behind ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, has moved ahead in the earning race since last 10 days. Same thing happened on Sunday too, where ‘Maidan’ has surprised by earning crores of rupees. Made in the direction of Amit Sharma, ‘Maidan’ is the biopic of Syed Abdul Rahim, who is called the golden boy of football in the country. Although the film, made with a budget of Rs 235 crore, has already proved to be a disaster, it has managed to earn Rs 48.40 crore in 25 days. This Ajay Devgan starrer film, released on the occasion of Eid, may have flopped in terms of earnings, but its story and acting have been praised a lot. This is the reason that even in this period of slowdown in theatres, the audience’s inclination towards films has increased of late.

‘Maidan’ earned Rs 1.35 crore on Sunday

According to the report of sacnilk, on Sunday, on the 25th day, ‘Maidan’ has made a net collection of Rs 1.35 crore in the country. A day earlier on Saturday it had earned Rs 95 lakh, while last Friday it had done a business of Rs 50 lakh. In this way, ‘Maidan’ has done a total business of Rs 2.80 crore in its fourth weekend.

‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ earned only Rs 70 lakh on 25th day

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s action film ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ has become a hit. Made under the direction of Ali Abbas Zafar, the budget of this film is Rs 350 crore. Whereas in 25 days this film has done a total business of only Rs 63.75 crore. For the last 10 days, this film is lagging behind ‘Maidan’ in terms of earnings. Even on Sunday, the 25th day, despite the holiday, the film has made a business of only Rs 70 lakh. A day earlier on Saturday it had earned Rs 40 lakh, while on Friday it had earned Rs 25 lakh. While ‘Maidan’ has earned Rs 2.80 crore in the fourth weekend, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ has made a business of only Rs 1.35 crore.

The shows of both the films have been reduced.

It is also worth noting here that in view of the lack of audience, the shows of both the films in theaters have been reduced significantly. Viewers who are outing with family and friends on weekends are definitely reaching theatres, but at present there is no film which is drawing the audience to the theaters due to its craze. While on an average 20% seats were seen in the shows of ‘Maidan’ on Sunday, the audience occupancy of BMCM was 12%.

Rajkumar Rao’s expectations from ‘Srikanth’ are like ’12th failed’

Ayush Sharma’s films like ‘Ruslaan’, ‘Main Ladega’ and ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ have already failed. Only a few shows of these films are being run in some theatres, due to which the earning is so low that it is useless to even mention it. Due to Lok Sabha elections, rising heat and IPL matches, the earnings of films have been badly affected. However, Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’ is releasing on May 10. The hope is that this film will perform like ’12th Fail’.
