Thrissur: Famous film still photographer Sunil Guruvayur (69) has passed away. He died at a private hospital in Kunnamkulam this morning following a heart attack. He was hospitalized Monday night following a stroke. But his health deteriorated and he died at 6 am today. The body is now kept at the residence in Guruvayur Nenmini. Burial will be Wednesday at 9 p.m.

The film will be directed by Bharathan through Vaishali. Later, Sunil Guruvayoor did still cinematography for several Malayalam films.

Guruvayoor was born in 1953. Krishnan Kutty and Ammu are the parents. Ambika is his wife. Anil and Anita have two children. He completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s High School, Guruvayur.

Many film personalities have come forward to mourn the demise of Sunil Guruvayoor. Manju Warrier, Manoj K Jayan and Ranjith Shankar paid tributes to him. Sunil Guruvayoor has passed away. He was one of the best and most famous still photographers in Malayalam cinema. He has collaborated with Sunil in a number of films. My personal connection with him is that it was Sunil who first took a photo of me on the set of my first film (in Wayanad) in 1988 and gave it to Chithrabhumi with the title “A New Actor in Malayalam Cinema Manoj”.

Director Ranjith Shankar wrote in a Facebook post, ‘Famous film still photographer Sunil Guruvayoor has passed away. The still humble man who made me realize during the passenger shoot that a still photographer is an assistant director, a production assistant and a person who gives courage to a new director. ‘
