The company Sunna Solar has requested the occupation of a land of approximately 108,060 m² of public port domain in the Port of Huelva (Spain), more specifically located in Punta del Sebo, in order to install its new e-methanol plant there.

The main objective of the company is to adapt the area to build an e-methanol production plant. After receiving this report, those responsible for the Huelva enclave have begun the paperwork for the project competition. This protocol will allow other requests to occupy this public domain space to be sent during a period of one month.

Regarding its business history, it is worth mentioning that Sunna Solar was launched on the market last May and its objective is the marketing, development, execution and construction of electrical installations, as well as hydrogen production facilities.

E-methanol or green methanol stands out for being a sustainable fuel, since it is produced renewably and without spreading polluting emissions in the port environment. These characteristics are even more accentuated in the production of green hydrogen, which can be used as a low-carbon liquid fuel in sectors that are still struggling to fully develop a decarbonization process, such as maritime transport.

On the other hand, the Port Authority of Huelva has highlighted its commitment to the fruit and vegetable sector at the Fruit Attraction fair, an event in which it has mentioned the importance of port infrastructure for the province’s agri-food sector and its accessible environment.
