Madu explained that Sunshine had been experiencing stomach pain that progressively worsened, prompting them to seek medical attention. She was initially admitted to Orchid General Hospital in Eti-Osa, Lagos, on January 1. Madu visited the following day and observed that she was receiving only pain relief and didn’t appear to be receiving comprehensive care.
Subsequent scans revealed that Sunshine had a very large fibroid. With doctors at Orchid General Hospital on strike, Madu made the tough decision to move her to Havilah Hospital, a private facility, where she underwent surgery.
According to Madu, the surgery was initially deemed successful. However, sunshine later developed complications and tragically passed away.
