Superman and Spider-Man Team Up Again in Epic 2026 Crossover Event
DC Comics has revealed details for its contribution to the highly anticipated 2026 crossover event featuring Superman and Spider-Man, with the first installment, Superman/Spider-Man #1, slated to arrive in comic book stores on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. This collaboration follows the release of facsimile editions of previous iconic Superman and Spider-Man team-ups, promising a fresh chapter for the two heroes.
The new one-shot will be available for $7.99 for the main cover and $8.99 for card stock variants. However, the true draw lies in the expansive storyline and impressive creative team assembled for this project.
The primary narrative, penned by Mark Waid with art by Jorge Jiménez, centers around a compelling mystery. According to a DC release, “When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world—especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!)” This sets the stage for a thrilling investigation where the dual identities of the intrepid reporters – Superman and Spider-Man – will be crucial.
But the story doesn’t stop there. The issue boasts a remarkable lineup of backup tales, which, according to DC, are “even better than the main story.”
Here’s a glimpse of what readers can expect:
- Tom King and Jim Lee will explore a dynamic between Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson.
- Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber will revisit Superman’s friend Jimmy Olsen alongside the villain Carnage.
- Sean Murphy will transport us to the future with Superboy (Legion) and Spider-Man 2099.
- Gail Simone, teaming up with Belén Ortega, will showcase a confrontation between Power Girl and the Punisher.
- Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere will depict a unique encounter where Superboy Prime visits Spider-Man shortly after he acquires the black suit.
- Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott will present an exciting competition between the Daily Planet and the Daily Bugle.
- Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval will delve into the past, revealing a bonding moment between Pa Kent and Uncle Ben – a playful nod to the age-old question of who would win in a fight between the two father figures.
One particularly intriguing, albeit tongue-in-cheek, storyline suggests a shocking revelation about Pa Kent’s past. “The last story will be fun when it’s revealed Pa Kent is the robber who killed Uncle Ben,” the source material playfully hints, “but I digress.”
The issue will feature a stunning array of covers, including work from Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair, Daniel Sampere and Tomeu Morey, Dave Johnson, David Nakayama, Gabriele Dell’Otto, Mikel Janín, Rafael Albuquerque, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, David Talaski, Arthur Adams, Chrissie Zullo, Josh Middleton, Scott Koblish, Olivier Coipel, Adam Hughes, Mitch Gerads, Jeff Spokes, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Steve Lieber, J. Scott Campbell, Clayton Crain, and Rafael Sandoval. Jorge Jiménez’s main cover will also be available as a foil variant.
Marvel’s Spider-Man/Superman #1 is scheduled to follow in April 2026, with a specific release date yet to be announced.
