Thiruvananthapuram: An IAS officer has been posted to oversee the renovation work on the Erattupetta-Vagamon road. An amount of `19.90 crore has been sanctioned for the modernization of the important road passing through Kottayam – Idukki districts. Public Works Minister PA Mohammad Riyaz said the contractor would be terminated if the work was not done properly.
” The deadline for road upgrades is August 24, 2022. The decision to complete the work by 10 km by May 15 has not been implemented. In addition, people complained about the quality of the work. An IAS officer was assigned a special task to assess the progress of the work on a daily basis.
The Chief Engineer will also take care of the tasks. If there is not enough progress in the work, it has been directed to terminate the contractor and take action against the contractor under the Public Works Act, ”said Mohammad Riyaz.
