The UNDP “Sustainable Communities” program developed a support format aimed at the “Construction or reconstruction of small and medium “smart” livestock buildings and state support for their technological support” program of the RA government in 34 border settlements of Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor marzes. This is known from the Ministry of Economy.
The event is carried out within the framework of cooperation between the UNDP “Sustainable Communities” program and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
Together, the project is designed for the construction or reconstruction of “smart” livestock buildings with a production area of 280 sq.m. and their technological support. It is a partial co-financing of not more than 70 percent of the estimated costs of the share of the beneficiary who received 50 percent state support from the RA government.
“Emphasizing the sustainable development of Armenia’s border communities, we developed a unique cooperation format together with UNDP. by consolidating the available resources, we will undertake to contribute to the maximum extent in the construction of “smart” livestock buildings in the selected marzes and communities, which will be a great incentive for the development of the milk value chain. I am sure that such cooperation will ensure even wider use of the development programs of the state aid and we will be able to achieve the goals we have set in the shortest possible time. We are committed to the successful implementation of the project, because the use of advanced technologies in these settlements will promote the formation of a new agro-culture, and the example of this success will be contagious for the neighboring settlements,” said Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan.
Individuals who have RA citizenship and permanent residence in the border settlements of Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor marzes, have a contract on state support signed with the RA Ministry of Economy, have cattle and have participated in one-week courses on livestock management and have a certificate can apply for UNDP partial co-financing. .
“This is a unique format because it is the first time that UNDP has developed a similar model of cooperation to support a public assistance program. The program is aimed at implementing tribal “smart” animal husbandry in 34 border settlements of Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor marzes within the framework of state aid programs implemented by the RA government in the field of agriculture, which, in turn, will contribute to the socio-economic development of communities, reduce poverty, improve the standard of living, and promote the business environment. and to the food security of the country”, said Mihaela Stoikoska, acting permanent representative of UNDP in Armenia.
