Survivor Fans Rejoice as Jeff Probst Confirms All-Player Return for Season 50

Jeff Probst recently told Entertainment Weekly that they did not yet have a plan in place for a significant fiftieth season Survivor. Well, those plans are now being put together quickly.

During a Survivor During a Q&A event with EW Editor-in-Chief Patrick Gomez on Saturday night at the Ovation Hollywood complex in Los Angeles, Probst announced that Survivor 50 (which will begin filming around Memorial Day 2025 and air in the spring of 2026) indeed all the players will be returning.

“I got an idea,” the host and showrunner said near the end of the event.Survivor 50 coming down the corner. The truth is, we’re really focusing on 47 and 48, that’s what we’re going out to shoot next, and then we have to shoot 49. But we know that 50 is coming, so I am curious, is there a feeling, should. To have another 50 seasons with new players and not a big deal?”

After the audience said no, Probst asked “Or should players be returning?”

After receiving a positive response to that choice, Probst announced, “In my mind, sometimes let the game be in the hands of the fans, I feel – and there are a few people from CBS right now going ‘Oh my God, What’s going on?’ — I think we should make a commitment and do this as the moment we decide that Survivor 50 Players will be coming again. I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I’m pretty sure we’re committed.”

If you don’t count Bruce Perreault – who was better than a returner because he was injured just minutes into his first season – Survivor (currently airing Survivor 46 on CBS) already in the longest stretch of all newbie seasons since the show first started bringing back players with Survivor: All-Starsi season 8. There was no star back in the whole new era that started with Survivor 41. And the host already told EW that no players would be returning in season 47 or 48 either. It now appears that it is Survivor 49 There will be all new players too.

Although Probst has officially confirmed the speculation that Survivor 50 (like 40 and 20 before it) will all be back, he didn’t say what the specific theme might be, though viewers sure talked about a lot of options, including another Second Chance on fan vote, Old Era vs New Era battle, or a full season of second place (after season 40 there were all winners).

It will be a while before the theme for season 50 is revealed, but fans can continue to dream about what could be the franchise’s greatest season ever.
