England all-rounder Ben Stokes praised India’s Rohit, Suryakumar and Kohli and said that their team reached the semi-finals without playing good cricket.
India take on Jos Buttler’s England in a blockbuster T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final clash at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10). In-form batsmen Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav will be the dangerous batsmen for England, Virat Kohli has scored 246 runs in 5 matches and Suryakumar Yadav has scored 225 runs so far in T20 World Cup 2022 and they are the hope of Indian team.
Meanwhile, England all-rounder Ben Stokes believes Suryakumar Yadav’s bowling attack can be contained in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against India. He praised Indian legend Virat Kohli, who he thinks has ‘earned the unwritten right’.
Speaking at a press conference organized by England & Wales, Ben Stokes said, “Surya Kumar is shining. He is an amazing player and plays some amazing shots that sometimes leave you scratching your head when he plays like that. He is in great form, but we are confident that we will be able to stop him from playing aggressively.”
And talking about Kohli and Rohit, Stokes said that as far as Kohli is concerned, his runs in all three formats speak for themselves. “We’ve played a lot against him and we’ll never take him for granted,” he said. Rohit Sharma continues to be a world-class batsman in the T20 format even though he has not played well in the last few matches. He has scored the most runs in this format. So we will not take Rohit for granted.
Whereas Stokes admitted that England have reached the semi-finals ‘without playing their best cricket’ so far, but on a big day, against a good Indian side, that may not be the case. “The way we’ve managed to not play our best cricket so far, I think we’re here now. So this match will be exciting. “But we know how to play this game on Thursday, against a very strong Indian side that nobody will take lightly”. This is because of the squad they are in and the players in their squad. But he said we want to focus more on our team.
