SWIFT introduces sanctions against Russian banks

by time news

From March 12, the SWIFT financial messaging system will cease to provide services to a number of Russian banks that have fallen under EU sanctions. We are talking about VTB, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Rossiya and Otkritie banks, and the state corporation VEB.RF.

Initially, Sberbank was also on this list. According to Bloomberg, Berlin opposes cutting off SWIFT from Sberbank, as well as cutting off energy supplies from Russia.

Also, since March 12, it is forbidden to sell, deliver, transfer or export euro banknotes to Russia. European countries are prohibited from participating in projects co-financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
